7:00am - I am hearing the roosters this morning as I sit on the back of the boat sipping on coffee while Steve is sleeping. We sure get our rest here. A sailor's midnight is 9:00pm. Steve and I managed to stay awake until 10:00pm last night.
9:18- Going by the Whale.
The Whale Cay area can clearly be the most challenging part of the Abacos for cruisers. You want to make sure to choose a calm day when crossing it. The difficulty are the result of the fact that a shallow bank extends all the way from Whale Cay to Treasure Cay on the mainland of Great Abaco Island, and the passage across it can be challenging for vessels drawing more than 3-4" We went outside and pass outside Whale Cay since we draw 5'6". It is fairly shallow (12") but can be susceptible to a rage sea condition when ocean swells come from the northeast. Glad it was a calm day.
10:45am- On the way out of the passage, Steve caught a Spanish mackerel.
Time to fillet the fish.
6:45pm- Stir fry for dinner tonight and then relaxed in back of the boat until bedtime.

Very windy and cloudy this morning. There is a cold front coming. Steve and I took our dinghy to the marina to get showered. We later went for a nice walk on the beach and then stopped in their bakery for some of their yummy sticky buns.
If you look closely, you can see our boat on a mooring in the centre of the heart shape O on the sign. |

8:30am- Brought a couple loads of laundry to a place where they wash and fold it for $10 a load. We figure it was well worth it.. Met Diane to go for a walk at the beach while Tom and Steve went to the grocery store. They later met us at the beach. It was windy but beautiful.
Relaxed at Diane and Tom's condo afterward and then Steve and I went to the boat for lunch while Tom prepared dinner for tonight. He is such a great cook.
1:15pm- we picked up our laundry and came back to the boat and changed our bed and put our clothes away.

3:00pm- Went to see Diane and Tom. Diane and I decided to go to the beach for a walk. Knowing that I like to paint buoys which wash up on the beach, Diane brought me to a spot where she found and hid some when she went for a walk earlier.
6:15pm- Tom made us a wonderful dinner and Diane served coconut cake for dessert. They both know it is my favorite. Such great host.
8:00pm- Steve and I went back to our boat.
Happy Bahamian Saturday, Lise and Steve! Wow...you are there! Hugs to Diane and Tom. I wish I was hearing those roosters too! Lots of snow in our area after rain and flash freeze yesterday. Went to Welland and had a good work out in the tank looking out at the snowmobilers and the ice fishermen. They weren't catching no Mahi Mahi! Had a nice lunch with Don and Gunter in Dundas this week. Going out to dinner in Cambridge tomorrow with John and Kate, Don and my parents to celebrate John's 27th birthday. Kim xx
