January 17 & 18 2018 - Hope Town

January 17, 2018

8:00- Cloudy morning but it was hot when we walked the beach.  Steve went to pay for a mooring.  It cost $20/ night or $100/wk.  We decided to pay for a week even if we do not stay that long.  Steve contacted Dr. Jim who is in Marsh Harbor and we will go with them down to Georgetown. Dr. Jim will meet us here in Hope Town tomorrow sometime.
As we walked the beach, we noticed a washed up sailboat.  As we approached it, a woman was there taking photos and said the sailor and a friend with 2 dogs washed up 10 days ago.  His instruments were not working properly and he ran into the rocks.  Everyone is fine and he is now trying to salvage all the parts since the boat has been holed.

The seas where rough and a lot of things were being washed up the beach. 

 Steve decided to open up a coconut with his small knife.  He gave up when it started sprinkling and wanted to head back to the boat before it poured.

 

 

We relaxed on the boat all afternoon.

5:30pm- We met Terry and John at Sip Sip Wine Bar for pizza.  Their pizzas are amazing.  It was nice getting caught up and we really enjoyed our evening with them.

7:00pm- Steve and I came back to the boat and watched a movie. 

January 18, 2018
7:30am-  The sun woke me up this morning thru the window.  It felt nice to see the sun since it has been very cloudy for a while. 
8:30am - Steve and I went for a walk on the beach.  We won't see it for awhile since we are leaving Hope Town early morning.  We are going to meet Dr. Jim before heading to the Spanish Wells. 
It was a windy but beautiful walk on the beach.  We managed to gather a lot of beach glass.

Of course Steve re-inspected the washed up sailboat.  We noticed how it sank in the sand even more from yesterday.  There was a woman sketching it and said she is going to paint it.  Maybe I will give it a try!!!!

 2:00pm - I did some painting and practiced my guitar playing while Steve read.  He later started cleaning the buoy which my sister found on the beach. 

 

5:30- I made a chicken casserole for supper seeing that it was only in the 60s..  We then watched a movie.  I download movie onto my ipad from Netflix when we have good wifi..  It is great since we can still watch them even if we do not have wifi.

 

Tomorrow we meet  head out around 8am to anchor and make water and then head out to meet Dr. Jim.  Not sure when we will have wifi again.
